Jessica Milo(She/Her)
Children's AuthorAbout Me
Jessica's passion for writing sparked when she was in kindergarten when she painted a page from The Rainbow Fish, and saw in it, the magic of books. Chicka Chicka Boom Boom also blew her young mind.
And so, she fell in love with stories.
A former preschool teacher, Jessica now pours her passion for children's stories into her own books, writing everything from board books to YA. Jessica is an active SCBWI, Inked Voices, and 12x12 Picture Book Challenge member and currently serves as the newsletter editor for SCBWI Oregon.
Jessica is a 2023 #SunWriteFun Grand Prize Winner, a 2023 #SpringFlingKidlit Winner, and a 2024 #50PreciousWords Honorable Mention. She was recently named the recipient of the 2024 Jane Yolen and Heidi E.Y. Stemple Highlights scholarship.
A published poet, with two poems featured in Little Thoughts Press magazine's Pride issue (all proceeds donated to The Trevor Project) and a poem featured in the upcoming The Dirigible Balloon anthology, Sky Surfing: Adventures in a Poetry Balloon, coming out in late 2024, Jessica is always imagining, creating, and reading, looking for and discovering the same magic from her kindergarten days.
Jessica lives in Oregon with her husband and crazy cat, Gus. When she's not writing, she loves to play video games and board games, keep up her Duolingo streak, go on walks, eat a lot of pasta, and play hide-and-seek with Gus.
